A Touch of Japanese Inspiration at Piggly Wiggly

We were delighted to be invited to create a garden display at Piggly Wiggly, and what fun we had bringing this beautiful Japanese-inspired garden to life!

Inspired by the simplicity, balance and tranquillity of traditional Japanese gardens, our aim was to create a peaceful space that celebrates the beauty of nature through thoughtful design and carefully selected elements.

Sometimes, less really is more.

With a simple layout and just a few carefully chosen plants, we created a garden that reflects the natural elements of earth, wind, fire and water.

The existing dam represents the calming presence of water, while the bonsai tree adds character, structure and a sense of timeless beauty. The gravel symbolises the earth, bringing texture and balance to the overall design.

One of the wonderful things about a Japanese-inspired garden is that it doesn’t need an abundance of plants or elaborate features to make an impact. Its beauty lies in its simplicity and the harmony between each element.

A little tip for creating your own Japanese garden: Choose a location away from overhanging trees and falling leaves. This will help keep the gravel clean and tidy, reducing maintenance and allowing you to enjoy a beautiful, tranquil garden with minimal effort.

A simple yet rewarding project, and a lovely reminder that even the smallest garden spaces can make a lasting impression.
